I really want to know what happened with the employee who took off early after they received your friend’s reply. Also, such a good reminder (and great tools) of how not to give our power away to the political provocateurs in charge at the moment. (I may use this for the next time I get mansplained during pickleball and feel provoked).
I love these tools, Blair, especially getting curious about the provocateur’s motive. I'm so curious, I'll be pondering quite a bit in the days ahead. Also, I never thought about the importance of moving one's body to process a reaction. I tend not to do that, but now I will. Thanks for these important insights!
So glad the Stack was useful, Karen. Moving is key. If you click on the qigong link it leads you to a very short video of Jeffrey Chand who is a master of helping people move their energy through the body. He has a bunch of free videos on you tube and they are terrific. Thanks for chiming in.
Timely and HI-ly thoughtful tools and tips. Thank you!
p.s. The post wasn't nearly as long as I had anticipated, but helpful to have set expectations as these days it could be 140 characters to the length of an Atlantic Monthly!
I have also felt belittled when another women's empowerment expert called my appearance on CNN with Anderson Cooper "cute" and hung on to that for years :) Enjoyed reading that detail of your piece here!
It’s the most cruel harmless word of them all isn’t it? It took me a long time before I realized what the intent was, and where in the speaker it was coming from. But that information did help me unhook from the sting. Thanks for chiming in here.
Love the example.

Spoiler: She figured it out! And report back if you find a good comeback for the pickleball bros! 💕
